AOKP KitKat Android 4.4.2 for HTC One XL

[ROM][Evita][EON's]AOKP::Unofficial[KitKat v 4.4.2]

version 0.40 beta

Hello have you been looking for an AOKP rom for the HTC One XL? Will if so you've come to the right spot. I am Techinstein on XDA-Developers and compiled my first rom ever. I just happened to choose AOKP. I chose AOKP because will I didn't see 4.4.2 for the Evita and saw AOKP just officially released the rom for 5 devices. So I added HTC One XL to the the unofficial AOKP rom list running as smooth as butter, as AOKP can be right now.  I've even added Viper4Android FX audio, which is an amazing replacement of DSP Manager and  this app is created by XDA-Developers own zhuhang and founded by ViPER520. Along with version 0.40 beta I included Xposed Installer with XHaloOpenWindow preloaded onto the rom, these are made by XDA's rovo89. XHaloFloatingWindow is a Halo like replacement. You just have to install the Xposed framework and activate the module, you might even need to reboot. But before you reboot open up the Viper4Android audio and follow the instructions it provides you and install the audio driver you wish out of; Super High Quality, High Audio Quality, and (will I don't quite remember the last one but I don't recommend that one anyway.) But once you install this reboot and enjoy. Note, that ART does not work at the moment. ART is a cache runtime that replaces Dalvik cache and when fixed in a future update can be enabled by going to developer options and select the runtime setting then choose ART. Everything else about this rom is %100 stable. AOKP just added Immersive mode so click the power button and on reboot menu choose Immersive mode. This hides status bar interactively. Just a small glitch with Google Hangouts app and nothing else. Another cool feature that works great is non-intrusive calling. Which provides a calling logo at the bottom of your screen with contact logo and accept decline. To check the status of AOKP in general please visit the mGerrit app included. Please read the thread on XDA to find out more to download the rom. Report bugs on the forum of this site from now on please.

AOKP KitKat v 4.2.2 for Evita [ROM]

[ROM][Evita][Beta v0.10]Unoffcial AOKP -- EON's [KitKat v 4.4.2]

v 0.20 beta releasing tomorrow

AOKP

Android Open Kang Project

Yesterday I compiled my first Android rom for the HTC One XL, this rom is AOKP Android 4.4.2. I decided to try and start compiling rom's with a BANG! I noticed that AOKP started Android 4.4.2 roms and only had 5 or so official devices so I thought I would make the first one for evita. I assume AOKP rebuilt their ROM from scratch since their features arn't all their at the moment. Probably soon to come though. So for my first rom I thought more mods? No only good mods, so I added Viper4Android audio which I am in the process of getting official permission to use in the rom. In my opinion V4A is way better then DSP manager. Other than that I added Xposed Installer with permission from XDA-Developer's member rovo89Along with Xposed I added XHaloFloatingWindow which is also bye rovo89 so you can get the effect of halo. Please feel free to visit the thread and try my first rom and the first AOKP 4.4.2 rom for evita. If your a member of XDA please leave your feedback and post bugs their or on this sites forum I will have a section for.

SlimKat ROM

Nuuu Slimroms has been out since Android 4.3 and was one of the first to release for Android 4.4 kitkat thus changing Slimroms to SlimKat.  Slimroms releases weekly beta for 4.4 current Slim rom is weekly 1.9 beta.  According to the Slimroms site we their latest weekly 1.9 is that start of their new theming engine.  They brought back the real dark Slim to 4.4 which btw  is now Android 4.4.2 for the latest Slim weeklys.  My favorite part of SlimKat is that they were one of the first releases of kitkat for Grouper the Nexus 7 and had weeklys.  On the first release they already had interface options and slimIRC. With SlimKat weekly 1.9 beta Android 4.4.2, features range from interface settings with clock and battery options.  Navigation which allows you to change navigation  bars dpi.  SlimKat also features Slim OTA and SlimSizer  which allows you to receive over the air updates and remove any built in APP.  But BE careful with what you remove.

AT&T HTC One X - Android ROM of the Week

[ROM] [EVITA] [AOSP] [4.3] [cfX-Toolchain 4.8.y+] codefireXperiment OFFICIAL NIGHTLY

Hello I am starting my new blog series called Android ROM of the Week!  This series well start out being for only the AT&T HTC One X, and then the "original" ASUS Nexus 7.  If you own some Android devices and would like to posts about your favorite ROM choices you have been using to give the ROM team support.  Please contact me at ThingyTech@gmail.com  Within the email state the Android devices you own and give me some examples of what kind of ROM's you would like to write about.

I would like Android ROM of the Weeks to be done in a Q & A format as follows...

Q: What is the exact name of the ROM as in XDA Developers or as can be found via Google?
A: [ROM ][Evita ][AOSP] [4.3] [cfX-Toolchain 4.8.y+] codefireXperiment OFFICIAL NIGHTLY
Note: In the future I well just be adding that in the SubHeading above and simple codefireXperiment as the answer.

Q: What kind of ROM is it?
A:  AOSP
Note: What is AOSP? AOSP is the simple abbreviation for Android Open Source Project. Other kinds of ROM's specifically from HTC are known as Sense ROM's.  Sense is what they call their UI. (User Interface.)

Q: What kind of features does this ROM have?
A:  The codefireXperiment ROM is a pure AOSP ROM. This means that their are not many features, yet device stabilization. It is just a solid ROM with several features that I well list below.
Note: In the settings menu of this ROM you will find a CFX section, this is where the features are located.
  • AOSP (Mode On/Off)  Turn the special features On/Off.
  • Interface which includes UI Mode to enable or disable a navigation bar, Hardware key remapping, DPI Wizard for LCD density, as well as a force enter key button on the keyboard.
  • System which includes volume panel options while increasing or decreasing the volume, link notification volume, volume key sounds, an option to disable low battery dialog, change the screenshot scale factor, power menu options such as advanced reboot, blacklist (for incoming calls texts.), and permissions.
  • Style which includes; glass statusbar that applys transparency, Quick Settings panel, expanded desktop, brightness control (when checked allows you to change the brightness by sliding across the statusbar.), Battery options along with many styles and a battery bar along with battery bar options, clock options for centering or hidden (no custom color), clear all button, and memory usage bar on the recent apps.
Note: When you turn AOSP mode off your customize features go away but when you turn it back on the re-appear to the way you left them last.

Q: What's the Android version?
A: Android 4.3 Jellybean, built and compiled with the cfX - Toolchain 4.8.y+

Q: What's unique about this ROM?
A:
Just have a look @ this amazing RAM! Especially with no apps. Adds battery!
Also this ROM has a pretty stable nightly.  Just click the link go to the ROM on XDA and click nightlies to download.  Choose the latest one.
Q: How to install this ROM?
A: First you have to have a custom recovery which you  can obtain once your Android AT&T HTC One X, Tesla HTC One X, Rogers HTC One X, is unlocked via the bootloader.  Then go to TWRP's homepage.  Click get for your device and find your device!  You'll need Android SDK and Fastboot.  Put it on the folder for Platform-tools.  Open that folder where you downloaded TWRP to. Extract folder until you see an ISO file.  Rename it twrp.  Hold down shift and right click , clcik on open command prompt here.  Now type, fastboot flash recovery twrp.img this method also works for flashing any recovery you download. Just rename it something else!
Once TWRP or other recovery is installed , click mount.  Copy downloaded ROM to your device.  A notification shall pop up on PC saying a device is connected click it and then open folder or drive.  Thats when  when you copy ROM to device.  Then when it says copy is complete wait!  With this ROM you also need to download the GApps core! And SuperUser zips! Drag the zips of the ROM, GApps, and SuperUser to the mounted device.  When copying is done unmount.    Now click the home on TWRP on the lower left and tap install. Scroll down until you see the ROM,s zip!  Select the roms zip then add the other two zips to the same flash session.  Wait for it to be all done.  Now tap reboot system.  Your all done.

Note: I am not responsible for anything that may or may not happen to any of your Android devices.   This BREAKS YOUR WARRANTY!  If you think you broke your device contact me at ThingyTech@gmail.com and I will help you if it is an Evitia device.  As much as I can.

Note: Their are ways to recover your device, first try waiting for several hours and then doing the power button and volume down button same time then release power button hard reset thing.  If that doesnt work after about 30 times, wait  longer at least a day.  Try again if it still persists after another 30 times. Your device is dead.  If no hardware lights or anything happens even when plugging your device in. Still have a warrenty you can get it returned.  Need help again contact me @ ThngyTech@gmail.com

The ORCA BIGFOOT 2+ Nightly Builds

I started out on The Orca BIGFOOT 2+ Nightly builds for a while but switched because Google Now wasn't working. I love the idea of TheORCAproject, I mean who wouldn't, at first they FREED the Orca's, and now are Unleashing BIGFOOT.  They still continue to free the Orca as well 'haha.  For who doesn't love the ROM that comes with its own Orca Tools, Paranoid Android ROM settings along with Pie controls, and those built in Goo Manager OTA (over-the-air) updates even for the nightly versions.  So I thought I use the Nexus 7 quite a bit and love technology and the ROM, and decided to apply and become a maintainer of The Orca Bigfoot 2+ on the Nexus 7 Grouper.  As well as release Nightly build change logs on those new features here!  Starting with the ones last released.

Switched back to Viper XL rom on the AT&T HTC One X

On my AT&T HTC One X for the 100th time I switched ROM's.  I decided to go back to Viper XL.  Why did I switch to Viper XL?  Well...  The AT&T HTC One X that comes stock Jellybean on some devices reacts funky with custom kernels.  So I thought if I am not going to have a custom kernel why not go back to my all time favorite rom!  Viper XL is my favorite rom because of all of the customizations and tweaks that come with it!  As well as its very own Venom Hub!  The Venom Hub is their version of HTC Hub.  It takes you to all the customizations you can download and install for their custom rom. With the stock kernel and the Viper XL rom there are no random reboots, at least for me.  If you have random reboots on a custom rom, just keep testing different kernels with it as well as kernel settings.  If you are having the exact problem as me you might need to just use a stock kernel.

Switching ROM's, HatKaXL and Orca Bigfoot 2+

Ok guys so as you know in a previous post I discussed how AOKP did not work on the AT&T HTC One X.  Well I didn't want to go back to Viper XL rom because of all the bugs on the stock Jellybean base for the One XL with Viper.  If you love customization features, status bar tweaks, and many more and did not have a stock Jellybean AT&T HTC One X. I would say give Viper XL a shot! Here is the link for ViperXL! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1868236 Viper ROM is also available on many other devices including international versions.  Now on my AT&T HTC One X, I am using HatkaXL.  HatkaXL is for the great stock experience they have a Sense 4+ version and a Sense 5 version.  HatkaXL.  Has many great features, but no over board theming. You can get HatkaXL here! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2075783!  HatkaXL is supposed to have amazing battery life and be extra buttery smooth, so far I can only confirm the buttery smoothness.  I also flashed the kernel Elemental X 6.7 the latest version which you can get here! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2061577.  On the AT&T HTC One X it is safe to overclock to 1.73 GHz on Elemental X. Elemental X has so far caused no problems with HatkaXL either.
Now to talk about the Nexus 7!  On my Nexus 7 I have the wi-fi 32 GB.  The wi-fi version is called the Grouper for anyone that did not know.  AOKP worked and I liked it, except that the Navigation Bar was always transparent on the home screen and some launchers caused it to lag. You can check AOKP out at http://aokp.co/!  AOKP is available on most devices!  Check to see if it works on yours!  I did some ROM research and found The Orca Project.  Its name even sounds EPIC!  The latest ROM series is called Orca Bigfoot 2+!  There are nightly versions and stables.  Go to The Orca Projects website here!  http://orcaproject.co/The_Orca_Project_4.2+_-_Android_Roms/HOME.html!  If you notice that on their homepage it says "NOT YOUR AVERAGE ANDROID ROM. FIRST WE FREED WILLY, NOW WE FOUND BIGFOOT."  I assume that is there homepage motto because the first ROM created by The Orca Project was called The Orca Project.  And now its called Orca Bigfoot 2+.  There main motto is "ALL ABOUT SHAMU POWERED ROMS." As you can guess all of there ROMS have Orca in it. According to The Orca Project's about page it contains the most features which was hand picked by the owners. The Orca Project in general is based off of AOSP with features from many roms including these! AOKP, CyanogenMod, ParanoidAndroid, and Root-Box Tools.  Since The Orca Bigfoot Project has features from ParnoidAndroid they decided to take PIE controlls which is an amazing multitasking feature, and %100 customizable.  I well be back posting about the updates of Orca Bigfoot 2+ , nightlies as well as HatkaXL.  Along, with my opinions and how to,s.  More pictures will be posted on my blog once I get a new camera!  What ROM's do you use!  Comment below!

Sadly AOKP on AT&T HTC One X stock JB does not work At The Moment

As the title says, AOKP does not work on AT&T HTC One X, the rooted one that was  stock JB. AOKP still works on other devices such as my Nexus 7.  I switched from Viper XL on my AT&T HTC One X because it was buggy on applications such as car.  Which is quite a necessary feature for some including me.  Viper XL rom only seemed to be buggy one the AT&T HTC One X with a custom kernel. Viper XL has great features and I will still switch back to it if I can not find another one that works as well.  And keep you guys updated on that ROM as well.

AOKP Nightly Update! 2013-06-09

AOKP has been updated.  AOKP does not really have version numbers for the nightly it is already
in milestone 1.  So I will be announcing the updates by the dates.  So todays AOKP update is
2013-06-09!  So lets Kang.  For those who did not know AOKP's motto is Android. Infused With Magical Unicorn Bytes.  Which is why I also assume their logo is a unicorn. You can update your device here! http://aokp.co/devices/!  It is my first time switching both my AT&T HTC One X and Nexus 7 to different roms!  So when I notice features getting added I well update you guys as well. My previous rom on my AT&T HTC One X was Viper XL 3.2.8 but it is awesome except it is really buggy still on the stock Jellybean firmwares of the AT&T HTC One X's. So I decided to switch both devices to AOKP.

AOKP

AOKP is a custom ROM for a wide range of Android devices.  Since I am going to be using this on my ASUS Nexus 7 I thought I would post about it.  Keep people in the know.  I well talk about AOKP features and new AOKP features on each update.  They have AOKP milestone which is the stable version and released once a month.  AOKP also happens to have a nightly which is not fully stable and may have some bugs also a new version is released every three days.  AOKP stands for Android Open Kang Project.  AOKP's website is @ this link: http://aokp.co/! Go there and click on about to find out more info.  There is also a features video on the homepage.  To get AOKP click devices and find yours and download it.  Then flash or sideload.  AOKP does not come with Google App Store so you need to flash it as well.  You can use http://forum.xda-developers.com/ to find one for you.  Or you can use this version which is edited by XDA member ZordanXV :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240652 . This version is XS which stands for Extra Small because he removed some unnecessary files.  This version is for people who don't need Play Store language packs as well.  I well mainly be posting the new features and updates also pretty much called a changelog.

What can you do with ViperRom that you couldn't do with the original software?

Why would you want to hack your Android smartphone? Android hack, terminology and basics

A great source for all your Android Hacking needs is @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/ or YouTube for visual tutorials.

Android is obviously a popular Operating System for mobile devices created by Google.  Many people love Android because you can hack pretty much any of the devices with Android.  First off, most people call Android hacks in other forms such as.

  • Bootloader: The bootloader is basically a BIOS like Windows has for managing all of the computers advanced functions.
  • Unlock: Unlocking your Android device is the first step in hacking your Android smartphone.  Being Unlocked allows you to root your device,
  • S-Off: S-Off means security off, which you only need to perform once.  This well allow to always root  your Android device.  S-Off is highly preferred. Say you want to go back to stock software that is updated then they patch the unlock method.  S-Off well allow you to root.
  • ROOT: Rooting your device gives you advanced system privileges.

Ever AT&T One X , JB 4.1 firmware 3.18 root?

It has been several months since the release of the AT&T HTC One X Android Jellybean 4.1 release.  Along with the new Jellybean came the 3.18 firmware and 2.14 HBoot. So far on many Android sites like XDA Developers their is no exploit to root the 3.18 AT&T HOX.  If you are like me and received the AT&T HOX with the stock Jellybean and 3.18. Well, it looks like we are going to have to wait for a long time.  Or did AT&T finally fix all of the leaks?  I well keep the site updated on a release for the exploit on 3.18 AT&T HOX.

Stay tuned!

(Evita) HTC One X

This is a post that I well especially be doing about the Evita HTC One X.  Evita basically says that the phone is an AT&T, Telus and Rogers.  Also anything to do about hacking those devices well be posted here as well.  The AT&T HTC One X once updated runs 3.18 firmware and Android Jeallybean 4.1 along with Sense 4+.  At the moment the AT&T HTC One X or any device with this software can not be rooted.  I well post when it can, along with a step by step guide.

 AT&T's One X                                                                                           Roger's One X

Telus One X looks the same as the Roger's One X.  The main way to tell the difference between Roger's and Telus is the boot animation.  Of course, AT&T states the obvious.
